New Korean Stall in the Food Court

Oh man, it’s seriously been a while. What can I say? I’m lazy and work has been a bitch. But, with the little one on the way I may find myself with a lot more time on my hands than I know what to do with. Might as well start this up again, right? Right.

So, last night, after a fairly exhausting week at work, I convinced the Hubby to go to the Food Court for dinner. It’s located in the Jusgo (formerly Asia World Market) shopping center.

If you haven’t been, it’s an interesting hodge podge of Asian restaurants and one random Cajun restaurant. Filipino, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and Boba Tea.

We haven’t been in a while, and I noticed they opened up another Korean restaurant called Hodori (Korean text reads: Boon Shik which roughly translates to something akin to “comfort food”).

I had to try it. It’s new, it’s Korean, there’s no way I’m not going to give it a shot. So, I ordered the Kimchee Fried Rice and some Gim Mari with Dukbokki. Continue reading

My SXSW trip 2012

Super late again.  LOL.  I know that SXSW (South by Southwest) was weeks ago, but work has been crazy and I haven’t had the energy to update posts.  Blurgh.

So, here it is, weeks later.  😉  My SXSW trip.  We got into Austin mid afternoon, and after dropping off our stuff at the Driskill (GORGEOUS hotel, btw) we made our way towards the convention center.  On the way, we stopped by the Mooseknuckle to grab lunch.  I got the BBQ brisket sandwich and the Hubby got pulled pork.  We ended up liking the other’s sandwich better and switched.

Both sandwiches were good.  Little disconcerted that they took our credit card when we placed our order and kept it until we finished eating… but I heard that’s common for bars.  The wait staff was incredibly friendly, which was nice.  Food took a little longer that I would have thought considering they only had about 5 things on the lunch menu to choose from.

Season’s Eatings

Oh geez, I can’t believe I haven’t posted since September!  My only excuse is that I’ve been super busy with school and work.  Not too busy to eat though, but I’m super back logged on posts, so I’ll have to just fit those in as I can.

First up, my trip back to Maryland for Christmas.

Soon Du Bu Adventure

A few weeks ago, the Hubby and I went to H-mart to buy groceries for the week.  We went a little early and decided to get lunch at the To Dam Gol Tofu House.  It’s located in the same strip of shops as the H-mart in Carrollton.

We’ve eaten here quite a few times since their Soon Du Bu is really good.  They’ve also got a pretty traditional Korean feel to the whole place. If you’re not familiar with Soon Du Bu, it’s a spicy Korean stew that is made with tofu and other ingredients.

Commencement Trip

Wow, oh wow. What a trip.  Just the thing I needed before starting my new job.  I was so proud to see my Hubby walk across the stage and get his Ph.D.  *sniff sniff.  They grow up so fast. Continue reading

Two wonderful years

Tomorrow is our wedding anniversary.  It’ll mark two wonderful years with the Hubby.  yay!  Course, we’ve been together for about 11 years now, so I would hardly call us newlyweds.

I just have to brag, because it was the one thing that I HAD to have at my wedding.  We got the Ace of Cakes to make our wedding cake.  (Does it look familiar?  It’s my blog’s header!)  Since the Hubby and I are big video game enthusiasts, we got a replica of the Rainbow Road track in Mario Kart made out of cake.  The figures are made of fondant.  In the middle, there is a Hello Kitty wearing a traditional Korean hanbok and a Dear Daniel wearing a traditional Chinese outfit.  They are supposed to represent myself and the Hubby. On the way to H-Mart

Peanut Chip and Lemon

Peanut Chip and Lemon

I don’t want to give the impression that the Hubby and I eat out ALL the time.  We usually only eat out on the weekends and during the week I will cook and pack bentos for lunch.  Every weekend we make a trip to the grocery store to plan out our meals for the week.  Luckily, I was able to find out the secret word for the free cupcake at Sprinkles before we left and we made a pit stop at the cupcake shop to get our free cupcake (peanut chip!) and an extra one as a bonus.  If you “like” their facebook page they will reveal a secret word of the day and you can get a free cupcake in store.
