It’s always better RA

Been a super busy week!  I haven’t even gotten a chance to update from the weekend.

So, here goes.  We got lunch at RA Sushi in Plano on Saturday.  It’s been a little while since we’ve been to RA, only cause sometimes the budget doesn’t allow for this kind of a splurge.

We started with the Lobster Spring Rolls (above) which are so very yummy.  All light and flaky and the lobster’s all creamy and lovely in the middle.  The plating just beautiful.

Then we ordered four rolls: Tsunami Salmon Roll, Pacific Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll and the Beef Tataki Roll (from top left to bottom right).  The Tsunami Salmon was quite nice, Kani kama crab mix, cucumber & asparagus rolled and topped with salmon.  It was simple and yummy.  The Pacific Roll (a spicy mix of albacore, cilantro, jalapeno & cucumber rolled and topped with fresh avocado and mango salsa; finished with red beet tempura bits and sauteed cashew nuts) had a little too much going on.  You couldn’t even taste the albacore cause all the other flavors overwhelmed it.  So, we’re passing on this roll next time.

The Spicy Tuna is delicious, it’s a pretty safe bet.  It’s done fairly well here, and I have no complaints.  The Beef Tataki is to die for!  Artichoke, asparagus, roasted red pepper and avocado rolled and topped with seared beef; served with a creamy wasabi sauce and drizzled with black pepper soy.  It’s amazing.  It’s probably my favorite roll at this place, and one of my favorite sushi rolls of all time.  The combination of flavors, unlike the Pacific Roll, do well to complement and enhance each other.  It’s clear to see why this one is a favorite on their menu.

Tomorrow’s Friday, and then Saturday we have tickets to see Rock of Ages!  Looking forward to the weekend!
